Title: The fundamentals of electronics and programming through practical, hands-on
activities.
Location: Abuesi Community
Date: October 14th – 16th, 2025
Time: 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Ghana time

As part of my community service, I organized a three-day Arduino tutorial for Junior High School students in the Abuesi community. The program aimed to introduce them to the fundamentals of electronics and programming through practical, hands-on activities.
Objectives:
1. To help students understand how to make basic electronic connections on a breadboard.
2. To give them an idea of how simple smart systems are designed, boosting their confidence and inspiring them to become future innovators.
Activities:
Day 1: I taught the students how to connect basic electronic components such as LEDs on a breadboard.
Day 2: I guided them in writing Arduino programs to make an LED blink every one second, and later, to make two LEDs (red and yellow) blink alternately.
Day 3: The students designed a proximity sensor using an ultrasonic sensor and a buzzer. I explained how the system works — the ultrasonic sensor detects if someone is nearby, and when it does, the buzzer sounds to draw attention.
At the end of the tutorials, I encouraged the students to think like innovators and assured them that they could achieve much more with continuous learning and creativity. The students were very excited, especially because they could successfully complete the circuits by following my instructions. I also motivated them to consider joining robotics clubs when they reach the Senior High School level since they now have foundational experience.
